Black Nylon Purse/Briefcase Organizer by Household Essentials - 6111 (Black) (8 1/2" W x 6 1/2" L) Review

This organizer is in some ways better than the 'belt' ones with a light and lots and lots of small pockets that you're supposed to coil inside your purse.

This organizer has two full-width center pockets separated by a piece of cardboard (wrapped in nylon). I clip things to that piece of cardboard.

This organizer has 2 half-width pockets with velcro closures on what I call the 'front.' Its third half-width pocket that has no closure is on the 'back.' It is a perfect size for my Palm Pilot (when I used one) and will be a good size for my Blackberry or Treo. The only bad part of keeping the phone there is I can't hear it when it rings and can hardly feel it vibrate.

The third quarter has credit card slots which I use for business cards. My Flash memory stick fits well into the second credit card slot and is protected there (instead of rattling on a key chain by it cap -- now there's a bad design). Below the credit card slots are two 1-inch deep zipper pockets where I carry some dollar coins so that in case I lose my wallet, I will still have a few bucks. I also keep my ear plugs there so they don't rattle around and will stay clean.

This organizer's large central pockets make it a little more flexible than the ones with many small pockets. However, this organizer's fixed-size might mean it will rattle around a bigger purse whereas the 'coil' type organizers can be uncoiled inside a big purse. On the other hand, the coil type are only 3 inches high so your taller items aren't very stable. This organizer has no light, but it's easy and inexpensive to use the tiny lights that can be attached to the keychain.

Byer of Maine Aruba Hammock Review

It's very comfortable and more stable than "American type" spreader-bar hammocks. Buy it for comfort, though, rather than looks. It's beautiful when new, but the fabric starts to fade within a few weeks (even in partial shade in Portland, OR) and gets shabby and worn looking before the end of the season. Good for an out of the way corner of the yard. At this price, you can replace as needed.

Household Essentials White Plastic Indoor Drying Rack Review

This worked well for several months. It was easy enough to assemble and set up with each use. Unfortunately, it is not sturdy. One week it was standing next to the closet and when several items of (dry) clothes got piled on top of it, two of the rods broke. I have managed to use packing tape to hold them together for the time being, but it bends even more than it used to under the weight of wet clothes. If you do not put too much weight on this it works fine. The slender design was unobtrusive for clothes which need a few days to dry (e.g., a few sweaters). A wider design would be better for drying more clothes. In any case, a sturdier grade or thickness of plastic is needed. I chose this plastic one because it wouldn't stain clothes like some wooden and metal ones do after aging, but it was not a better choice.

Panacea 15205 8-Foot Deluxe Log Rack with Cover Review

I am a loyal Amazon shopper. Given the difference in prices it is hard not to jump at the chance to save some money regardless of what you want to purchase.A few weeks ago I went in search of buying a log rack and cover for my firewood and after doing some serious price checking, Amazon was the cheapest, including the cost of shipping the 28 pound box.When my order arrived the assembly parts, screws and bolts were missing.When I called to arrange for Amazon to send me the replacement parts, I was surprised how difficult it was to even find a number to speak to a representative.Finally after getting a customer service representative on the phone, I was informed they would have to send me a new log rack since they are not a garden center.I would have to repack the log rack and arrange to have the box picked up. Although I was frustrated and debated going to a hardware store and just purchasing the parts I needed, I waited for the new box to arrive and I arranged to send my original log rack back to Amazon.The new one arrived and shortly after it was assembled, the logs placed into the rack, the log cover which came with the rack, tore apart during a mild storm.I was disappointed in the quality of the log cover and felt that had I gone to a garden center and seen the product, it would have been worthwhile to spend a little more and at least see what I was getting for my purchase.While I love the many benefits of not having to leave my computer to order almost anything I need, I would urge you not to purchase this product from Amazon and given the quality of the cover I would suggest that you shop around for a more durable log rack and cover.

Nassau Swivel All - weather Wicker Bar Stool Review

Catskill Craftsmen Grand Americana Workcenter Review

I'm super pleased with this workcenter.It looks really nice, it's solid and it has great storage.

Most of it is solid wood and quite pretty.The large flat panels on the lower back and sides and the bottom of the open shelf are veneer over some very thin wood.It seemed kind of cheap, but actually looks nice.Every thing else is solid wood and very heavy.

The assembly instructions are well written and easy to follow.I put together the back by myself.But as I said the piece is heavy and that makes it hard work to assemble.I ended up hiring a professional assembler to do it which cost $50.00.

The storage is wonderful.The top shallow drawer holds 80% of my cutlery and cooking utensils, 100% of what I use every day.The bottom drawers hold my pasta pot and strainer, a small crock pot, muffin pans, cake pans, and plenty more.I keep my bowls on the open shelf, they look nice and it's great to have them so handy.

I am so happy with it I just ordered the microwave cart.I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars because the butcher block top needed sanding.

Walker Edison 60 inch Jamestown Wood TV Console Review

This is nice and sturdy.It wasn't to hard to put together, and I did it by myself.The only thing that was a bit tricky were the shelves in the doors.I kept getting them backwards.

The only aspects that I was not 100% happy with were the fact that the handles were made of plastic and most of the holes that were drilled for the door hinge screws were drilled to large in my opinion.I also wish that glued in wooden pegs are not all that hold on the feet.

For the screws, I ended up putting a drop of glue onto the holes and then screwing in the screws.I have yet to add my DVD's yet, but I think it will be ok.

One last thing to be aware of is that you will only have just enough wooden pegs.I broke one, and luckily enough I had some in my garage to use instead.

Over all, I think, for the sale price, I would definitely recommend this.For the full price I would not recommend it.But I do love the way it looks and it fits my dark wood and semi-retro decor.I probably will replace the handles for metal ones.Over all, not a bad product to have delivered right to your door.

Farm Innovators Birdbath, 75-Watt Review

I Purchased this item last winter and found it to be too shallow - just over inch or so. With evaporation and usage, be prepared to fill it a few times a day. It is made of plastic, and if it runs out of water the center may bulge upward from the heat of the element - as mine did. I ended up purchasing a separate heat unit for my concrete bath. It works perfectly. Putting it on a timer so it shuts off at night will save on the electric bill.

Microwave Space-Saver Cart Review

It does have solid wood for the top pieces,braces, legs, doors and drawer front but the rest of it is pressed wood with wood veneer. I polyurethaned the whole cart to protect it from spills and it looks very nice but the veneers do not match the wood grain of the solid wood. The veneer is more fine type of grain while the solid wood has a larger grain appearance, it would have been nice if the wood grains would match better. The 2 top pieces look like a carving block and are very pretty. I didn't care for the way the back pieces are put together with pins, the pins are very loose and it was difficult holding the pieces together while trying to screw the top piece on. Other than that the stand is fairly easy to put together and seems to be sturdy once it is all together.

This hammock was very soft, "broken in" already, and is extremely well-made.Held two people, no problem, and that was even using the Byer of Maine hammock stand (the two sticks and a rope contraption).Very durable, nice and even weave, and didn't bleed when it got a little damp in a surprise rain shower.SO HAPPY with this hammock!

Purchased this bench over a year ago for use in my garden.Wanted a small sturdy bench that could be used for working on my garden but was also attractive.This bench is perfect.It went together quickly and has proven to be very sturdy (I'm no lite-weight).It is a comfortable height, stands solidly, but is easy to move around.Has been outside in all kinds of weather.Large enough to be comfortable; small enough to move; looks good tucked into a curve of my landscaping.I wish they made a longer version, 3 to 4 feet long, so I could have one for permanent

Catskill Craftsmen French Country Workcenter Review

My parents bought me one of these Catskill Craftsmen French Country Workcenter's when I moved into my first house in July of 1999. It's been used every single day I've been home since that day. It works perfect in my kitchen, and will probably last another 20 years. The only thing you have to do to this is oil it occasionally. I use mineral oil and if I haven't done it in awhile, it can really soak it up. It works as a counter, work surface, storage and cutting board. I try not to cut bread on it with a bread knife because of the deep grooves that a bread knife can leave, but I have done it before. It just adds character to a piece that's aging very nicely. The casters are heavy duty which make it easy to maneuver around the kitchen. Two of the casters can lock in place. The drawer is about 5 inches deep and can hold a decent amount of kitchen gadgets. To my surprise, this shows very few signs of wear and aging for something that is used constantly. I've never had to tighten anything up and it's still as sturdy as the day I assembled it.I'd like to get the 48" one to use in place of my buffet in my informal dining area. The storage space beneath the top comes in very handy.

Super Island PLUS with Drop Leaf Review

Let me give you the advantages first. It is a pretty deep cabinet, so you can put quite a bit of stuff in it, although it would be better if it was one big compartment instead of three smaller ones. The drop leaf is nice because you can put two counter stools at it and eat. It also gives it a large work surface area. The wood it is made out of has a nice appearance and color, and the overall look is very "kitchen cabinet-ish". The fact that you can roll it around anywhere is also really nice.
But now for the disadvantages. First of all, it comes poorly packaged, so wooden pieces are likely to be broken, and you have to call the manufacturer to get them replaced. Next, you have to assemble everything yourself, and I mean EVERYTHING. I've ordered quite a few pieces of furniture that need assembly, but nothing like this. You have to do everything but grow the trees and cut the lumber yourself! Once it is put together, the overall appearance is nice, but it doesn't look like an eight hundred dollar anything. This is probably because the wood parts are thin and some aren't solid wood. In comparison to other kitchen islands, I would say it definitely has a cheaper look. The top is not really butcher block. Its thin and it's basically some sort of raw wood that no matter how many times you oil and sand it, it feels "furry", not hard and smooth. I don't know what kind of wood it is, but I don't think it is the proper type of wood for this purpose. The overall "super" big appearance it has in the manufacturer images is a bit of an illusion. It has a super shallow drawer on top and the two tiny side doors with small compartments on each side. Even the rolling casters are pretty small. All these small parts put together make it look large. I measured the space it would fit in before I ordered it, and was surprised at how small the size actually was. Once put together, I was still surprised at how small it was and how small all the compartments and the drawer were. There is nothing super about it, but it is functional

Whitney Design Inc Carousel Clothes Dryer 4320 Review

This little carosel dryer is absolutely wonderful.It is great for air drying all those little or delicate items.I have used it to air dry socks, underwear and even little stuffed animals.It has a hook at the top when opened that is large enough to fit over a bar.It is easily stored by just flipping it over and it closes revealing a ring where it can be hung on a nail or hook.

My dryer had broken so it came in really handy this winter.Now my dryer is fixed, but I plan on purchasing another one this spring so I have two.I like to air dry in warmer weather and having two of them will make it so much more pleasant.

I personally think they are adorable and definitely worth the money.

Western Red Cedar Wood Garden Bird House Review

Cute, small wren house that would make a great gift for someone. Be very careful putting it together because the roof split in half when I started nailing it. It would be a good idea to pre-drill your holes on the pieces prior to nailing. The picture doesn't show it, but there are huge gaps between the roof and the sides. Not sure if it is suppose to be ventilation holes or a defect. The holes they did pre-drilled on the bottom of the bird house is way to big for the cheap nails they give you. Had to find my own screws to finish it.At least it was free with my purchase of the bench table.

Cedar Garden Bench Review

This product comes as a kit, so you need a little carpentry skill to assemble it. It was not particularly hard to put together, but I wouldn't attempt it if I had little or no prior experience with building wood items. The pieces were well made and fit well, but the instructions were poorly copied and hard to read and the illustrations were not the best. I suggest you use a power screwdriver for the assembly. After assembly, however, it is very nice looking, although lightweight (the wind blew it over once or twice).

KidKraft Nantucket Storage Bench Review

This is the second piece of children's furniture I have purchased by this company (KidKraft) and I feel comfortable in recommending them and their wares highly. I am not good at reading directions or putting things together, but this really was very simple to put together and the instructions were great (easy to follow steps and pictures). The bench is lovely; solid, pretty, roomy. Really a perfect addition to our toddler's room. Great find! Note that while we are using this for our son's toys, it is sturdy and attractive enough to use anywhere in the house - it's not just for kids.

I generally review 3 kinds of stuff: (1) knocks my socks off, (2) annoys me, or (3)has some feature that hasn't been mentioned but I think should be.This lamp doesn't fit into any of these categories but it's a good lamp.One feature that I like is the 2-light-level switch.I often use the lower level to augment available daylight and the upper level when I'm reading with an overhead light on.I'm not fond of using it as the sole light source.This is partly due to the fact that the light from the lamp looks unusually cold (think of the "white", glary headlights of a modern car).And partly it is due to the smallish "pool" of light given off by the lamp.If you're reading a book or knitting, a small pool of light works well.For a newspaper, however, not very.Would other lamps work better?Probably not.
Bottom line:Am I happy with it?Yes.I like the little platform thing, which I use for a pad and pen.I like the adjustability of the light (the goose-neck feature, which, because it's a floor lamp, I won't change very often).The whole thing seems sturdy and well-made.I like having two light levels.The diffuser that attaches under the bulb to prevent the light from shining directly in your eyes is also a nice touch.
It just didn't knock my socks off.

Coventry Media Stand Review

Pros:
- Reasonable price (for this type of furniture)
- Open spaces for your electronics (lets heat dissipate), rather than enclosed
- Drawer can be left out to create 3rd open shelf and still looks "finished"
- Not overly complex to assemble (i.e. not a particularly large amount of hardware for furniture this size)
- Holes pre-drilled in the back of the drawer in case you want to keep a game console there
- Mostly wood construction, only flimsy pieces are back panel and drawer bottom (typical)
- Customer service and technical assistance in US (Dallas Texas), numbers clearly printed in directions

Cons:
- Couple of minor dings (OK, I can touch the small ones up with a black marker)
- A rather large ding on prominent top piece, I am contacting SEI to obtain replacement piece (will update with results)
- Instructions leave a bit to be desired, not all my pieces were labeled (but some were), some pieces are easy to reverse
- My parts bag was torn open, parts scattered in the box (but all there)
- Fit of doors is hit-or-miss, not always 'square' in the openings, you can mitigate this some by lifting on one side or the other (the unit will flex slightly)
- The dowels that support the shelves in the cabinets are not level with each other, as a result one shelf is not stable and will "rock" slightly. For me this is only one one side, and only in one of the 3 possible height positions (the middle one - which is really where I want the shelf).

Misc:
- Made in Vietnam.
- About 70-80lbs.

UPDATE: I called SEI's customer support line regarding the damaged top piece I received. I was able to speak to a human without too much automation, and she arranged for a new top piece to be shipped to me no questions asked and no charge. I received it and the replacement piece was in perfect shape. So, I'll upgrade my rating to 4 stars due to the good customer service.

Lifetime 22901 6-Foot Folding Table (72 x 30 Inch Molded Top) Review

The Lifetime Almond 6 Foot Utility Table with Folding Legs is great. We originally wanted only one table but ended up with three of them. When a major hardware store had their grand opening sale we were able to buy one for thirty dollars. They sold out quickly but since the store was issuing rain checks for as many as you wanted (within reason), I opted for two additional tables. It took about six months before we acquired all three but it was worth the wait. I know they periodically go on sale, perhaps not at the low price we paid, but it would be worth checking out. I use one for folding clothes in the laundry room, another is used as a catch all/hold all/desk in the basement and the third one is used as a buffet table for family gatherings. The table is just the right length and width for wrapping Christmas gifts. The tables are sturdy, look nice and are easily cleaned. I also recommend the Lifetime Personal Adjustable Folding Table for those who need a smaller table. ~ Mrs. B.

Fast Fit Pet Patio Door - Medium (Mill) (78 3/4" - 81 1/4"H) Review

Not a terrible doggy door but, if I had actually done my homework previous to buying it, I would've gotten something better. The Fast Fit door doesn't correctly seal with our door. We had a problem with there being bigger gap at the top of the sliding glass door frame ... though we were able to fit it in better, the gap never fully disappeared and there's no way to stop a small draft from getting in.

The bumper itself doesn't run the whole length of the fast fit door and, no matter what you do, there will always be a small gap at the top between the Fast Fit door and your patio/sliding glass door. (And this is in addition to the gap we get by the two frames not fitting together.) Also, the weather stripping doesn't stick very securly against the other side of the sliding glass door. We're probably going to have to glue it.

Not worth the price we paid.

Oxford Garden Chadwick Collection Armchair Review

An unused outdoor patio was transformed by the addition of the Oxford Chadwick Armchairs and other coordinating Oxford pieces.I had initially wanted to purchase teak furniture but after visiting several garden storesand searching on-line I was discouraged by the high price.One of thegarden stores suggested shorea as an alternative, sighting the similarqualities to teak less the high price. Remembering an insert in the Sundaypaper I search Amazon.com plus several other sites.I choose to make mypurchase from Amazon.com because of their reputation and also I could notfind a better price anywhere!
The pieces arrived and were very easy toassemble.The quality is as good as any of the higher priced gardenstores.My once unused space is now furnished better that some indoorrooms of my house!
I was so pleased I told a friend who purchased a tableand 4 matching chairs!
